Foster Care

No family or community is immune to crisis, and foster care is consequently an issue that demands attention also from the Muslim community. The MWCV is planning to initiate an awareness campaign on fostering issues amongst the Muslim community, working together with other community groups and organisations. The plan is to not only raise awareness on the issue of foster care but to also recruit more foster carers amongst the Muslim community and to initiate a ‘befriending’ program for individuals who wish to help children in care on an occasional basis, and especially before committing themselves to full time fostering. The MWCV aims to work closely with leading entities in the fostering field and to provide cross-cultural training for mainstream service providers and entities working.

Fundraising

MWCV recognizes the importance of raising money for organizations and appeals to assist in the rebuilding or enhancement of communities as a response to natural and man made disasters or for their social, economic and/or educational development. It is considered not only a social obligation but an Islamic obligation

MWCV is already involved in fundraising activities for a number of organizations including the Royal Children’s Hospital, Kashmir Earthquake Appeal and the Red Cross (raising $15,000).

Volunteering

The MWCV relies heavily on volunteers for running the organisation’s activities, but also aims to engage volunteers in community projects of the wider community. Please get in touch with the organisation to find out more about volunteering opportunities.
