The Muslim Women’s Council of Victoria Inc. (previously known as the Islamic Girls’ & Women’s Group Inc.) is a not-for-profit organisation formed to meet the challenges faced by Muslim women living, working and integrating into the broader community in a way that honours their religious and cultural heritage while simultaneously enriching the broader Australian community. |

To meet the challenges faced by Muslim women by: |
- Encouraging and assisting Muslim women to be educated and professionally trained |
- Supporting Muslim women in their integration into Australian society |
- Facilitating Muslim women’s participation in physical and recreational activities |
To enrich the Australian community by: |
- Informing the public about the religion and culture of the diverse Muslim communities in Melbourne |
- Creating more exchange between Muslim and other communities |
- Working together with other community groups to create harmony |

With regards to Muslim women |
- To increase the number of Muslim women who are professionally trained, gainfully employed and actively engaged in the Australian political system |
- To encourage Muslim women to assume more powerful positions in both the Muslim and the wider community |
- To assist Muslim women in understanding their rights and responsibilities in the Australian society |
- To improve Muslim women’s health |
- To establish a good working relationship with existing Muslim community leaders |
With regards to the wider Australian community |
- To improve the general community’s understanding of Islam |
- To give non-Muslims the opportunity to participate in Muslim traditions |
- To change the negative public perception of Muslim women into a more realistic one |
- To improve the harmony between Muslims and the wider Australian community |
